Lake Howard


With approximately 180 acres, Lake Howard borders the Talladega National Forest, with some of the most pristine scenery in the state. There is an abundance of game fish, including bass, bream, and crappie, or you may try your hand at catfishing. This area is subject to the State of Alabama hunting and fishing regulations.
A new 14 mile trail system includes a combination of singletrack and existing fire roads in the Talladega National Forest. Built by the NFS, Sylacauga Recreation Dept, COGS and Trails Unlimited, this trail offers 4 different loops which make up the total distance of 14 miles. Maintained by Cyclist of Greater Sylacauga (COGS).

Talladega Gran Prix Racetrack


Talladega Gran Prix Raceway (TGPR) is available for lease by your company, club, or just a group of friends. The track is family-oriented and there are many nearby attractions to plan a family weekend getaway. Camping is available throughout the grounds, many spots with power hook-ups. Talladega Short Track


Talladega Short Track, affectionately called “The Hornet’s Nest”, is ranked as one of the Top 25 speedways in USA Today. The action on the track is tight and ultra competitive, turning a field of Stock Cars loose on the high-banked, red clay oval. Action takes place on the Stock Car Track every Saturday night from mid-March through mid-October, and Friday night racing action on the 1/6 mile Raceway Park go-kart facility from April through September with go-kart and Junior Late Model Racing.

Cars of Many Colors


Visit a restored antique car collection by John Garrett - no two are the same color, hence the name! Mr. Garrett has this collection open year-round and it is free to the public. Come by anytime to view the antique cars through the window while listening to an audio description of the vehicles, or call John Garrett himself and he will meet you for a free private tour! Enjoy cars as old as a 1902 Oldsmobile and as new as a 2003 Monte Carlo NASCAR race car. Although not a huge collection, the variety is very interesting!

L&N Train Depot


Now over 100 years old, the historic Louisville & Nashville (L&N) Railroad Station once saw as many as 26 passenger trains come through Talladega, Alabama each day. The depot, now used by the Talladega Chamber of Commerce, is located just off the Historic Talladega Courthouse Square District.

Battle of Munford Historic Marker


The Battle of Munford took place on April 23, 1865, during the raid through the state by 1,500 Union Army cavalrymen under General John T. Croxton, part of the force participating in Wilson's Raid. The Battle of Munford and a minor action at Hendersonville, North Carolina on the same day were the last battles of the American Civil War east of the Mississippi River.
